| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor Grant S. Wegner on the | 4 |
| occasion of his retirement as a Circuit Judge of the 16th | 5 |
| Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois and to congratulate him on | 6 |
| his new position as counsel to the firm of Mahoney, Silverman, | 7 |
| and Cross; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Grant Wegner earned his bachelor's degree in | 9 |
| political science from Northern Illinois University in 1974 and | 10 |
| his Juris Doctorate degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, | 11 |
| Minnesota in 1977; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, After graduating from law school, Grant Wegner | 13 |
| served in a private law practice and as a part-time prosecutor | 14 |
| in Kendall County; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, In June of 1986, Grant Wegner was appointed to | 16 |
| serve as an Associate Judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court | 17 |
| of Illinois; in November of 1990, he was elected to serve as a | 18 |
| Circuit Judge of the 16th Judicial Circuit, where he remained | 19 |
| until his retirement on September 30, 2009; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, From 1998 to 2002, Grant Wegner served as a Chief | 21 |
| Judge of the 16th Judicial Circuit; he was appointed by the |

| Illinois Supreme Court to serve on its Mentoring Committee from | 2 |
| 1997 until his retirement; the Illinois Supreme Court also | 3 |
| appointed him to serve on its Automation and Technology | 4 |
| Committee for 7 years, 4 of which as the committee's chairman; | 5 |
| and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Grant Wegner has served as a Commissioner for the | 7 |
| Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, | 8 |
| Inc., since 2002; he has also served on a variety of other | 9 |
| judicial and community boards; and | 10 |
| WHEREAS, Grant Wegner has been an active member in the Boy | 11 |
| Scouts, having earned the rank of Eagle Scout; he has | 12 |
| previously been a member of the Executive Board and currently | 13 |
| serves on the Advisory Board for Three Fires Council, Boy | 14 |
| Scouts of America; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Grant Wegner is well known by his peers for his | 16 |
| architectural skills, particularly in futuristic courthouse | 17 |
| design, and his love of the Green Bay Packers; and | 18 |
| WHEREAS, Grant Wegner currently serves as a member of the | 19 |
| appellate practice, mediation, and litigation group of | 20 |
| Mahoney, Silverman, and Cross; he also plans to teach at John | 21 |
| Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he will surely share his | 22 |
| great legal wisdom with a new generation of aspiring lawyers; |

| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 3 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 4 |
| honor Grant S. Wegner on the occasion of his retirement, | 5 |
| congratulate him on his new position as Counsel to the firm of | 6 |
| Mahoney, Silverman, and Cross, and wish him continued success | 7 |
| and happiness in the future; and be it further
| 8 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 |
| presented to Grant Wegner as a symbol of our esteem and | 10 |
| respect.
