| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles | 4 | | E. Mingo of Chicago, who passed away on February 2, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on June 27, 1941 in McComb, | 6 | | Mississippi to Frank L. Mingo, Sr. and Cornelia E. Mingo (nee | 7 | | Dillon); he moved to Chicago as a child; he attended Northern | 8 | | Illinois University, where he received a B.S. in Zoology; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He was a founding member of the Northern Illinois | 10 | | University Epsilon Omicron chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi | 11 | | Fraternity; in 1966, he married Janet Mingo (nee | 12 | | Bailey-Murray); he earned a Master's in Biology from Chicago | 13 | | State University; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He began his educational career as a biology | 15 | | teacher at Harlan High School; later, he progressed into | 16 | | educational administrative roles as an Assistant Principal at | 17 | | Austin High School and Whitney Young High School, which he | 18 | | co-founded; additionally, he worked as a District | 19 | | Administrator for the Chicago Public Schools Central District | 20 | | before becoming Principal of Du Sable High School in Chicago | 21 | | and Beckham Middle School in Gary, Indiana; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, During his career, he won numerous awards | 2 | | including the prestigious Miliken Award for Excellence in | 3 | | Education in 1993; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his | 5 | | brother, Frank L. Mingo, Jr.; and his sister-in-law, Sheila | 6 | | Mingo; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Charles Mingo is survived by his wife, Janet; his | 8 | | children, Jennifer, Nathalie, Jeffery, and Dana; his brother, | 9 | | Clifton "Tip" Mingo; his sister-in-law, Suziet Mingo; his 2 | 10 | | aunts; his mother-in-law; and his many cousins, nephews, and | 11 | | nieces; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 13 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 14 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of | 15 | | Charles Mingo; and be it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Charles Mingo as a symbol of our | 18 | | sincere sympathy.
