| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" Romano of Wood River, who | 4 | | passed away on July 23, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Romano was born in Alton to Salvatore and | 6 | | Antonina (Terranova) Romano on February 15, 1918; he was raised | 7 | | at the Catholic Children's Home and returned as a young adult | 8 | | to be a Boy Scout leader; he married Josephine "Jo" Berghoff in | 9 | | Alton on August 26, 1939; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Romano worked at Olin Corporation as a | 11 | | manager of the shipping and receiving department; he retired | 12 | | after 44 years of service; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, For over 85 years, Anthony Romano was a member of | 14 | | St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was part of the Holy Name | 15 | | Society and sang in the choir for 51 years; he was also a | 16 | | member of the Alton Knights of Columbus, where he served as an | 17 | | officer, the Management Club, the Westerner Club, the Alton | 18 | | Eagles, and the Alton-Wood River Sportsman's Club, where he and | 19 | | his wife danced every Saturday night for many years; they | 20 | | enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and | 21 | | Europe during retirement; his favorite pastime was watching | 22 | | Cardinal baseball and golf on TV and spending time with his |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Romano was preceded in death by his wife | 3 | | of 73 years, Josephine; his parents; his sisters, Rose Dipiazzo | 4 | | and Geraldine Martino; his brothers, Frank and Andrew Romano; | 5 | | and his son-in-law, Charles Peck; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Romano is survived by his daughters, Judi | 7 | | Peck and Mary Jo Romano-Buesteton; his son-in-law, who he loved | 8 | | like a son, Joel Buesteton; his grandchildren, Erin (Carl) | 9 | | Oest-Larsen, Kyle (Liz) Buesteton, and Sarah Buesteton; his | 10 | | great-grandchildren, Lene and Kate Oest-Larsen and Beck | 11 | | Anthony Buesteton; his sister-in-law, Mary Oldham; his | 12 | | brother-in-law, Robert Berghoff; and numerous nieces, nephews, | 13 | | great-nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
