| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Mary Elizabeth Boyle of Clarendon Hills, | 4 |
| who passed away on April 10, 2010; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The former Mary Elizabeth Ruckman was born and | 6 |
| raised in the small town of Amboy, about 85 miles west of | 7 |
| Chicago, where her father owned an insurance agency; she was a | 8 |
| student teacher at Coonley for a year before receiving a | 9 |
| bachelor's degree in education from National Teachers College | 10 |
| in Evanston; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, She married Donald Boyle in 1947, and the couple | 12 |
| lived in Oak Park; she taught nursery school for a few years | 13 |
| before they settled in Clarendon Hills in 1955 and she focused | 14 |
| on raising her young children; in 1967, with her children older | 15 |
| and in school, Mrs. Boyle returned to Coonley as director of | 16 |
| the junior and senior kindergarten classes, for ages 4 through | 17 |
| 6; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, She retired in 1991 but continued for a few years | 19 |
| as a substitute teacher; in 2001, Mrs. Boyle received the G. | 20 |
| Howard Glassford Award at Coonley for her outstanding service | 21 |
| to students; and

| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; | 2 |
| and
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Mary Elizabeth Boyle is survived by her sons, | 4 |
| John, Dick, and Phil; her daughters, Lynn Costello and Joanne | 5 |
| Hartwig; and her four grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Mary Elizabeth Boyle; | 9 |
| and be it further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of Mary Elizabeth Boyle as a symbol of | 12 |
| our sincere sympathy.
