| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to commend the Jack and Jill Chicago | 4 | | Chapter for its work to encourage the leadership development | 5 | | of African American children into future leaders; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a membership | 7 | | organization of mothers with children, ages 2 to 19, dedicated | 8 | | to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening | 9 | | children through leadership development, volunteer service, | 10 | | philanthropic giving, and civic duty; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc.'s objectives | 12 | | include creating a medium of contact for children that will | 13 | | stimulate growth and development and providing children | 14 | | constructive educational, cultural, civic, health, | 15 | | recreational, and social programs; since 1938, the | 16 | | organization has dedicated its resources to improving the | 17 | | quality of life of children, particularly for all African | 18 | | American children; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter has operated | 20 | | since 1947, focusing on initiatives to equip members and youth | 21 | | with the power to make a difference in the lives of children | 22 | | and communities in Chicago and around the country; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter has maintained | 2 | | a fervent commitment to service and community support with | 3 | | mothers and teens, building relationships with organizations | 4 | | like the Chicago Urban League, Humble Beginnings, IGNITE, and | 5 | | Chicago Youth Programs, and the organization's teen group | 6 | | previously won first place at the 2021 Midwest Regional Teen | 7 | | Leadership Conference for charitable giving; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter provides a | 9 | | focus on social activism, leadership development, legislative | 10 | | advocacy, cultural awareness, and educational activities, | 11 | | including helping introduce Jack and Jill children of all ages | 12 | | to the act of protesting and standing up with confidence for | 13 | | their rights as African American children and teenagers while | 14 | | learning how to create a vision and how to achieve that goal in | 15 | | the process by mobilizing the community at large to rally | 16 | | behind a common cause; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, The Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter also includes a | 18 | | Father's Auxiliary to encourage the involvement of fathers at | 19 | | every level of the organization to assist mothers in | 20 | | delivering programming that stimulates the growth and | 21 | | development of children; therefore, be it | 22 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |

| 1 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 2 | | we commend the Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter for its | 3 | | dedication and work to encourage the growth and development of | 4 | | African American children into future leaders; and be it | 5 | | further | 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 | | presented to the Jack and Jill Chicago Chapter as an | 8 | | expression of our esteem and respect. |
