| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Calvin Oren "Cal" Rolloff of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on October 23, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cal Rolloff was born on the family farm in New | 6 | | Ulm, Minnesota to Herman and Oralia (Lambert) Rolloff on | 7 | | September 18, 1934; he graduated from New Ulm High School in | 8 | | 1953, where he was a standout baseball and basketball player; | 9 | | in 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the | 10 | | 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment (11th Airborne Division), | 11 | | where he completed 27 jumps as a paratrooper and served as a | 12 | | medic; he saw tours of duty in Germany and Alaska and continued | 13 | | his baseball playing days in the Army; he married Jean Lorraine | 14 | | Simonson in Kiester, Minnesota on August 24, 1957; he attended | 15 | | college on the GI Bill and graduated from University of | 16 | | Minnesota in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy; | 17 | | while attending "the U," he played varsity baseball for three | 18 | | years, and his team won the College World Series his junior | 19 | | year in 1960; he was captain of the baseball team his senior | 20 | | year; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Cal Rolloff moved to Des Moines, Iowa and began | 22 | | working for McGladrey's in their audit department; in 1968, he | 23 | | was promoted to partner and transferred to the Moline office, |

| 1 | | where he remained until his retirement in 1987; following two | 2 | | years of consulting, he became corporate controller and then | 3 | | chief financial officer at A.D. Huesing; he served as president | 4 | | of the Illinois CPA Society and participated in the national | 5 | | American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; he retired | 6 | | and became successful at selling Daily Dispatch newspaper | 7 | | subscriptions; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Cal Rolloff's passion was golf; he was a member of | 9 | | the Short Hills Country Club for 50 years and carded two | 10 | | holes-in-one there within two weeks of each other in 2013; he | 11 | | and Jean enjoyed many years of the Gold Cup competition in Las | 12 | | Vegas; he often played in the Wednesday pro-am event at the | 13 | | Q.C. Open/Hardee's Golf Classic, the precursor to the John | 14 | | Deere Classic; he also enjoyed competing in the father-son | 15 | | tournaments at the Short Hills Country Club and the Midlothian | 16 | | Country Club; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Cal Rolloff had been a long-time member of Faith | 18 | | Lutheran Church, where he was treasurer and sat on the | 19 | | endowment committee; he was currently a member of Trinity | 20 | | Lutheran Church, where he was a reader and faithfully attended | 21 | | services and men's breakfasts; he volunteered often throughout | 22 | | his life; he sat on the board of the Mississippi Valley Council | 23 | | for Girl Scouts of America and raised funds for the successful | 24 | | 1981 Moline schools referendum and the construction of the new |

| 1 | | Moline Public Library; he was a soccer referee, a member of the | 2 | | Moline Rotary, and part of the Moline American Legion Post #246 | 3 | | Honor Guard; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Cal Rolloff was preceded in death by his siblings, | 5 | | Vernon (Alice) Rolloff, Lorna (Albert) Mangen, and Irene (Tony) | 6 | | VanderBeke, and his brother-in-law, Dale Simonson; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Cal Rolloff is survived by his wife of 62 years, | 8 | | Jean; his children, Julie (Joe) Schwab and Jason (Colleen) | 9 | | Rolloff; his grandsons, David, Brian, and Matthew Schwab and | 10 | | Brendan and Logan Rolloff; his siblings, Wesley (Jan) and Gene | 11 | | (Joanie) Rolloff; his sisters-in-law, Carol (Byron) Sadler and | 12 | | Fran Simonson; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Calvin Oren "Cal" Rolloff and extend our sincere condolences to | 16 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 17 | | further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Cal Rolloff as an expression of our | 20 | | deepest sympathy.
