| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Judith A. "Judy" Dallas of Granite City, | 4 | | who passed away on July 31, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was born in Granite City to Henry | 6 | | and Ann (Stajduhar) Pieper on August 19, 1950; she married | 7 | | William A. "Bill" Dallas Jr. at the former St. Joseph Catholic | 8 | | Church in Granite City on September 15, 1973; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was a 44-year veteran of law | 10 | | enforcement and the criminal justice community, with 29 years | 11 | | at Madison County; her career started with the Granite City | 12 | | Police Department; she served as a detective secretary and | 13 | | chief's secretary before taking a job as a senior | 14 | | administrative assistant with the county's probation | 15 | | department in 1988; a year after she started working for the | 16 | | county she graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology from | 17 | | Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; she worked her way | 18 | | up through the ranks, serving as supervisor, deputy chief, and | 19 | | chief probation officer; on March 14, 2008, she was named the | 20 | | first female director of the probation department; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was a member of the Illinois | 22 | | Probation and Court Services Association, which awarded her the |

| 1 | | prestigious Illinois Probation and Court Services | 2 | | Association's Pauline Gansauer Award in 2002; she was a former | 3 | | member of the American Probation and Parole Association; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was a member of St. Mary Catholic | 5 | | Church in Madison; she was an avid reader, had a special love | 6 | | for animals, and enjoyed flowers and her garden; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was preceded in death by her parents | 8 | | and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William Sr. and Irene | 9 | | Dallas; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Judith Dallas is survived by her husband of 44 | 11 | | years, William; her brothers, Lawrence (Mary) Pieper and John | 12 | | (Sheree) Pieper; her sister, Victoria (Kerry) Bundy; her | 13 | | brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Jessica Dallas; | 14 | | her sister-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" Dallas; her godson and | 15 | | nephew, Jonathan Bundy; her nieces and nephews, Olivia Dallas, | 16 | | Margaret Dallas, Megan Dallas, Thomas "J.J." Dallas, and | 17 | | Melissa McCullouch; her aunts, Juanita James and Mary Pieper; | 18 | | her special friends, Glenda and Steve Bowker; and many cousins, | 19 | | extended family, colleagues, and cherished friends; therefore, | 20 | | be it
