| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Wallace William "Wally" Schwahn of Rock | 4 | | Island, who passed away on July 22, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wallace Schwahn was born on June 2, 1923 in | 6 | | Appleton, Wisconsin; his parents were Edwin and Cora (nee | 7 | | Wegner) Schwahn; he married Nancy Ann Jost on April 5, 1951 in | 8 | | Rock Island; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Wallace Schwahn served his country as a member of | 10 | | the United States Armed Forces during World War II; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Following his service to his nation, Wallace | 12 | | Schwahn attended and graduated from Valparaiso University in | 13 | | Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry; he | 14 | | subsequently attended and graduated from the Worsham College of | 15 | | Mortuary Science in Chicago; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Wallace Schwahn was employed by Hodgson Funeral | 17 | | Home in Rock Island, where he worked as a funeral director and | 18 | | embalmer from 1950 until his retirement in 1991; following his | 19 | | retirement, he assisted the funeral home on a part-time basis | 20 | | for many years; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Wallace Schwahn was a longtime and devoted member | 2 | | of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island; he was also a | 3 | | member of the Greater Rock Island Lions Club, where he worked | 4 | | countless evenings of bingo; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wallace Schwahn is survived by several cousins, | 6 | | including Mary Runge; his special friend, Mary "Deannie" | 7 | | Wiggins and her family, who he had "adopted" as his own; and | 8 | | his many friends; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 11 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Wallace William | 12 | | "Wally" Schwahn; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Wallace Schwahn as an expression of | 15 | | our sympathy.
