HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Olga Nuñez-Johnson from Thomas J. Waters Elementary School in Chicago on being awarded the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching from The Golden Apple Foundation on April 30, 2024; and

WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Foundation is the leading Illinois-based nonprofit committed to preparing, mentoring, and honoring great educators who advance educational opportunities for students, and its mission is to inspire, develop, and support teacher and school leader excellence; and

WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching honors outstanding teachers who have made lasting, positive effects on students' lives and school communities; and

WHEREAS, After a highly competitive process, Olga Nuñez-Johnson was selected as one of 10 teacher award recipients in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Olga Nuñez-Johnson prioritizes her students' needs, fostering a supportive and purposeful student-centered environment as she embodies the principles of love, care, and hope in teaching, and she has left a lasting impression on generations of students who fondly recall her influence on their educational journeys; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Olga Nuñez-Johnson on being awarded the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching from The Golden Apple Foundation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Olga Nuñez-Johnson and Thomas J. Waters Elementary School.
