| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate and thank Brother | 4 |
| Michael Quirk for his 24 years of dedicated service and | 5 |
| leadership to the De La Salle Institute in Chicago; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Brother Michael Quirk received his bachelor's and | 7 |
| master's degrees from Lewis University in Romeoville; he has | 8 |
| served as a Christian Brother for 25 years; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Brother Michael Quirk began his career with the De | 10 |
| La Salle Institute in 1983, accepting a position as a Business | 11 |
| Manager; he became the first President of De La Salle in 1989; | 12 |
| and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, As President of the De La Salle Institute, Brother | 14 |
| Michael Quirk oversaw many important changes that were made to | 15 |
| the institution; he supervised the school's change from an | 16 |
| institution governed by the Christian Brothers into a separate | 17 |
| non-profit organization with a Board of Directors; he also | 18 |
| expanded the educational initiatives of De La Salle through his | 19 |
| founding of the Tolton Adult Educational Center in 1990, as | 20 |
| well as the Lourdes Hall Campus for young women in 2002, which | 21 |
| enabled De La Salle to become a co-institutional high school; | 22 |
| and

| WHEREAS, Brother Michael Quirk has also served on the | 2 |
| boards of many non-profit institutions, including Lewis | 3 |
| University and the College of Santa Fe; he is also a member of | 4 |
| the Chicago Board of Ethics; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Brother Michael Quirk is a dedicated family man | 6 |
| and was a devoted son to his late parents, Frank and Theresa | 7 |
| Quirk; he is proud of his entire family, which includes Teri | 8 |
| and Dennis Johnson, Jeannie Johnson, Julie Johnson, Brian | 9 |
| Johnson, Mairellen Leverence, Megan and Gary Zerbach, Michale | 10 |
| and Abby Leverence, Kevin and Kathleen Leverence, Jim and | 11 |
| Kristen Quirk, Lauren and Brian Rose, Colleen Quirk, Randall | 12 |
| Quirk, Aunt Jane Quirk, and Sister Jane Martin; he is also very | 13 |
| committed to his nieces and nephews and has always given help | 14 |
| and support to them as they proceed through their lives; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Upon his departure from the De La Salle Institute, | 16 |
| Brother Michael Quirk will serve as the first President | 17 |
| Emeritus of the De La Salle Institute and as the President of | 18 |
| Christian Brothers Services, Inc., positions that will | 19 |
| undoubtedly be performed well by this man of great dedication | 20 |
| and propriety; therefore, be it
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 22 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |

| congratulate and thank Brother Michael Quirk for his 24 years | 2 |
| of dedicated service and leadership to the De La Salle | 3 |

| future; and be it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 6 |
| presented to Brother Michael Quirk as a symbol of our esteem | 7 |
| and respect.
