| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Neal W. Schwartzkopf of Alton, who passed | 4 | | away on August 1, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Neal Schwartzkopf was born in St. Louis, Missouri | 6 | | on January 31, 1926 to Clarence and Marie (nee Bladt) | 7 | | Schwartzkopf; he attended Alton public schools and graduated | 8 | | from Alton High in 1944; after graduation, he enlisted in the | 9 | | United States Army Air Corps, where he gained the rank of Staff | 10 | | Sergeant with the 498th Bomb Group, 875th Bomb Squad, and | 11 | | Regiment 73rd Wing; he was a tailgunner with the B29 Flying | 12 | | Fortress, stationed in Saipan; he returned home in 1946 and | 13 | | enrolled in Shurtleff College (SIU Alton), where he earned a | 14 | | bachelor's degree in business; in 1947, he married Kathleen | 15 | | Fahrig; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Neal Schwartzkopf spent years working for | 17 | | Standard Duplicators; he then established the Schwartzkopf | 18 | | Printing Co. in 1972 as a family business; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Neal Schwartzkopf was a lifelong member of St. | 20 | | Mary's Parish in Alton, where he was on the parish board and | 21 | | sang in the choir; he loved music and played both the clarinet | 22 | | and saxophone; he played the clarinet in the Alton Community |

| 1 | | Band and the New Horizons Band in Alton; while living in Fort | 2 | | Meyers, Florida, he played in the Lee County Community Band and | 3 | | the Sanibel Island Band; he was a longtime member of Alton | 4 | | Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1308 and was a former member of | 5 | | the American Legion in Fort Meyers; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, After the passing of his wife, Kathleen, Neal | 7 | | Schwartzkopf married Jane Moylan in November of 1999; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Neal Schwartzkopf was preceded in death by his | 9 | | parents; his first wife, of over 50 years, Katie; his 2 sons, | 10 | | Mark and Tom; his grandson, David Schroeder; and his | 11 | | son-in-law, Rich Ogburn; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Neal Schwartzkopf is survived by his second wife, | 13 | | Jane (nee Moylan); his 3 daughters, Christine (Michael) | 14 | | Galligan, Teresa (Michael) Dressel, and Amy Ogburn; his son, | 15 | | Jim (Donna) Schwartzkopf; his daughter-in-law, Marie (Mark) | 16 | | Schwartzkopf; his 4 stepchildren, Michael (Suzie) Moylan, | 17 | | Larry Moylan, Kathleen Buck, and Connie (Bob) Schneider; his 29 | 18 | | grandchildren; and his 19 great-grandchildren; therefore, be | 19 | | it
