| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives learned
with sadness of the death of Gertrude | 4 |
| Trunda on November 3, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Gertrude Trunda was born August 27, 1923, in | 6 |
| Chicago;
she died on October 19, 2007, having been a resident | 7 |
| of Wheeling since 1955; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Gertrude met her husband, John, while both of them | 9 |
| were serving in the
United States Navy; they married in 1944 in | 10 |
| Chicago; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Gertrude was the loving mother of Judith Case, | 12 |
| Toni Fahey, Jay
Trunda, Christopher Trunda, Cathy Heer, Thomas | 13 |
| Trunda, and Patrick Trunda;
she was also the grandmother of 17 | 14 |
| and the great-grandmother of 13; and | 15 |
| WHEREAS, Gertrude will be remembered for her dedication to | 16 |
| her church as
a founding member of St. Joseph the Worker | 17 |
| Parish, as a volunteer at St.
Joseph the Worker School, as a | 18 |
| charter member and President of the Catholic
Women's Club, and | 19 |
| as a representative to the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic
| 20 |
| Women; and

| WHEREAS, Gertrude was a valued member of the Pavilion | 2 |
| Senior Center for many
years; she initiated the Bereavement | 3 |
| Support Group after the death of her
husband, John, in 1988; | 4 |
| she began the center's Nutrition Classes and led the Senior
| 5 |
| Stretch exercise classes at the Pavilion; she was also chosen | 6 |
| as the center's Super Senior
in 1992; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Gertrude was a proud member of the American Legion | 8 |
| Post 0988, the
Committee to Elect John F. Kennedy for | 9 |
| President, and the Red Hat Society; therefore, be it
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 11 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 12 |
| mourn the passing of Gertrude Trunda and extend our sincerest | 13 |
| condolences to her family, friends, and community; and be it | 14 |
| further
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 |
| presented to her
family as an expression of our deepest | 17 |
| sympathy.
