| 1 | | HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 3 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE | 4 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Special Commission on | 5 | | Gynecologic Cancers is created; and be it further | 6 | | RESOLVED, That membership of the Commission shall be as | 7 | | follows: | 8 | | (1) A representative of the Illinois Comprehensive | 9 | | Cancer Control Program, appointed by the Director of the | 10 | | Illinois Department of Public Health; | 11 | | (2) The Director of the Illinois Department of | 12 | | Insurance, or his or her designee; and | 13 | | (3) 14 members who shall be appointed as follows: | 14 | | (a) Three members appointed by the Speaker of the | 15 | | House of Representatives, one of whom shall be a survivor of | 16 | | ovarian cancer, one of whom shall be a survivor of cervical, | 17 | | vaginal, vulvar, or uterine cancer, and one of whom shall be a | 18 | | medical specialist in gynecological cancers; | 19 | | (b) Three members appointed by the Senate | 20 | | President, one of whom shall be a survivor of ovarian cancer, | 21 | | one of whom shall be a survivor of cervical, vaginal, vulvar, | 22 | | or uterine cancer, and one of whom shall be a medical | 23 | | specialist in gynecological cancers; and | 24 | | (c) Eight members appointed by the Governor, one of |

| 1 | | whom shall be a caregiver of a woman diagnosed with a | 2 | | gynecologic cancer, one of whom shall be a medical specialist | 3 | | in gynecological cancers, one of whom shall be an individual | 4 | | with expertise in community based health care and issues | 5 | | affecting underserved and vulnerable populations, two of whom | 6 | | shall be individuals representing gynecologic cancer awareness | 7 | | and support groups in the State, one of whom shall be a | 8 | | researcher specializing in gynecologic cancers, and two of whom | 9 | | shall be members of the public with demonstrated expertise in | 10 | | issues relating to the work of the commission; and be it | 11 | | further | 12 | | RESOLVED, That members of the Commission shall serve | 13 | | without compensation or reimbursement from the commission; | 14 | | members shall select a Chair from among themselves and the | 15 | | Chair shall set the meeting schedule; and be it further | 16 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Public Health | 17 | | shall provide administrative support; and be it further | 18 | | RESOLVED, That the Commission is charged with the study of | 19 | | the following: | 20 | | (1) Establishing a mechanism to ascertain the | 21 | | prevalence of gynecologic cancers in the State and, to the | 22 | | extent possible, to collect statistics relative to the timing | 23 | | of diagnosis and risk factors associated with gynecologic |

| 1 | | cancers; | 2 | | (2) Determining how to best effectuate early diagnosis | 3 | | and treatment for gynecologic cancer patients; | 4 | | (3) Determining best practices for closing disparities | 5 | | in outcomes for gynecologic cancer patients and innovative | 6 | | approaches to reaching underserved and vulnerable populations; | 7 | | (4) Determining any unmet needs of persons with | 8 | | gynecologic cancers and those of their families; and | 9 | | (5) Providing recommendations for additional | 10 | | legislation, support programs, and resources to meet the unmet | 11 | | needs of persons with gynecologic cancers and their families; | 12 | | and be it further | 13 | | RESOLVED, That the Commission shall provide its final | 14 | | report to the Illinois General Assembly no later than December | 15 | | 31, 2020, and upon the filing of its report, is dissolved; and | 16 | | be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 18 | | delivered to the Director of the Illinois Department of Public | 19 | | Health, the Director of the Illinois Department of Insurance, | 20 | | the Speaker of the House, the President of the Senate, and the | 21 | | Governor.
