| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William Carlos Mitchell of East Moline, | 4 | | who passed away on November 18, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Mitchell was born in East St. Louis to | 6 | | William F. and Evelyn (Cook) Mitchell on March 9, 1940; he | 7 | | married Hortense Jimison in East St. Louis on July 4, 1961; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, William Mitchell worked as a letter carrier for | 9 | | the U.S. Postal Service; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, William Mitchell was a former member of | 11 | | Progressive Baptist Church in Davenport, Iowa; most recently, | 12 | | he was a member of Second Baptist Church in Rock Island; he was | 13 | | a Sunday school teacher and student and was active with the | 14 | | male chorus and brotherhood; he enjoyed helping others, | 15 | | visiting nursing homes, woodworking, and traveling; he was a | 16 | | great storyteller, songwriter, and grandfather; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, William Mitchell was preceded in death by his | 18 | | parents; his stepmother, Eather Mitchell; his brother, Kevin; | 19 | | his infant sister; and his son, Todd Mitchell; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, William Mitchell is survived by his wife of 58 |
