| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | 3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Capitola Peyton; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton was born on December 25, 1925, to | 5 | | Dela Hopkins and John Peyton; she graduated from Wendal | 6 | | Phillips High School; she had 5 children, of which 6 | 7 | | grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 | 8 | | great-great-grandchild were born; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton traveled the world with her | 10 | | sidekick and son, Robert, traveling to places such as Paris; | 11 | | she lived and worked in many different places in the U.S., | 12 | | including Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton was called the "Mother of the | 14 | | House Movement"; the House Movement was a big part of her life; | 15 | | she would often help her son Robert in whatever way she could | 16 | | when he opened his first club; she was at every party doing | 17 | | everything from working the door to helping out in the | 18 | | coatroom; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton was affectionately known as | 20 | | "Gypsy"; she was a wonderful mother who loved cats, especially | 21 | | her cat "Annie"; she loved watching movies and television; she |

| 1 | | had a room full of stuffed animals that were like members of | 2 | | her family; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton was preceded in death by her | 4 | | parents, Dela Hopkins and John Peyton and her grandson, | 5 | | Specialist Jameel T. Freeman, who passed away while serving his | 6 | | country in Afghanistan; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton is survived by many nieces, | 8 | | nephews, cousins, and an extended House Movement family; her | 9 | | special friend, Gloria Williams and a multitude of friends; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Capitola Peyton, and we extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Capitola Peyton as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
