| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Carol Jean Schaefer of Morris, who passed | 4 | | away on August 30, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer was born in Gardner to John L. and | 6 | | Gertrude Marie (Gunderson) Hill on December 13, 1931; she | 7 | | graduated from Mazon High School in 1949 and married Herman V. | 8 | | Schaefer Jr. at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca on July 29, | 9 | | 1950; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer supported her husband's farm | 11 | | operation; she also served as the Norman Township Secretary; | 12 | | and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer was an active member of Immaculate | 14 | | Conception Parish in Morris, where she served in many ways over | 15 | | the years; she was also a former board member of the Grundy | 16 | | Community Volunteer Hospice and We Care of Grundy County; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer enjoyed gardening, canning, | 18 | | baking, cooking, and sewing and loved her flower gardens; she | 19 | | always had a smile and a good word for anyone she met; she also | 20 | | enjoyed collecting and selling Longaberger Baskets; she faced | 21 | | every day with optimism and joy; and
