| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Leslie "Les" S. Skinner of Union, who | 4 | | passed away on June 12, 2010; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He resided in Shabbona in his early years; on May | 6 | | 6, 1950, he married Dolores "Dolly" Albrecht of Union; they | 7 | | resided in Hinckley for 5 years, then Marengo and Union for the | 8 | | past 55 years; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army during the | 10 | | Korean War; he was a member of the American Legion Henry F. | 11 | | Miller Post No. 482 and of the Woodstock Moose Lodge; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, He was self-employed, operating Skinner | 13 | | Amusements, a family-owned business that has been in operation | 14 | | for 100 years; the business was founded by his grandfather, | 15 | | George Skinner, who passed on the business to Maurice and | 16 | | William (Leslie's father), who later transferred the | 17 | | enterprise to Les and Douglas Skinner; Les began working at | 18 | | Skinner Amusements when he operated a train ride at 10 years | 19 | | old; in 1946, he purchased his first ride and continued adding | 20 | | more rides; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Skinner Amusements has been recognized with many |

| 1 | | service and safety awards including "75 years of faithful | 2 | | service to McHenry County" from the McHenry County Fair | 3 | | Association; on April 11, 2010, Les celebrated the 100th | 4 | | anniversary of Skinner Amusements with a gathering of past and | 5 | | present employees; he was a hard worker and was dedicated to | 6 | | making sure the rides were running safely, even if that meant | 7 | | that he would personally have to do the repair work; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, He enjoyed basketball and football; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Leslie Skinner was preceded in death by his | 10 | | parents, Agnes and William Skinner; his brothers, Dean and | 11 | | Harold Skinner; his niece, Deanette Carter; his nephews, Jay | 12 | | Reinhard and Douglas Skinner; and his uncle, Sam Saud; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Leslie "Les" Skinner is survived by his wife of 60 | 14 | | years, Dolly; his son, Kevin (Diane); his grandchildren, Jamie, | 15 | | Jeff, Jim, Joe, John, and Jenny; his great-grandchildren, | 16 | | Devin, Kaylee, and Brynne; his sister, Martha Sampson; his | 17 | | sisters-in-law, Judith Albrecht, Marlene Skinner, and Virginia | 18 | | Skinner; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 21 | | his family and friends, the passing of Leslie Skinner; and be | 22 | | it further
