| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John Francis "Jack" Skeffington, who | 4 | | passed away on January 1, 2017 at the age of 86; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Skeffington was born in Chicago, the only | 6 | | child of Peter and Kathleen Skeffington of Carrick-on-Shannon, | 7 | | Ireland; he graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in 1948 | 8 | | and went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Loyola University in | 9 | | Chicago in 1954; he married the love of his life, Marilyn | 10 | | McCabe at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Chicago; in 1964, Jack | 11 | | and Marilyn moved to River Forest where they lived for 31 years | 12 | | and raised seven children; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, John Skeffington worked as an attorney at Querrey & | 14 | | Harrow in Chicago for 40 years; upon retirement, he and his | 15 | | wife began a new adventure at Del Webb's Sun City in Huntley; | 16 | | he moved to Attic Angel Place near Madison, Wisconsin to be | 17 | | closer to family in 2015; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, John Skeffington was preceded in death by his | 19 | | parents and his wife, Marilyn; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, John Skeffington is survived by his seven | 21 | | children, Nancy, John (Julie), Mark, Matthew (Christine), |

| 1 | | Patrick (Janet), Mary (Jeffery), and Peter; his nine | 2 | | grandchildren, John (Jen), Megan, Ryan, Adam (Morgan), | 3 | | Natalie, Shannon, Nicholas, Christopher, and Lexi; and two | 4 | | great-grandchildren, Malianna and Thomas; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | John Francis "Jack" Skeffington, and extend our sincere | 8 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 9 | | him; and be it further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of John Skeffington as an expression of | 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
