| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate State Representative and | 4 | | Assistant Minority Leader Grant Wehrli on his distinguished | 5 | | service to Illinois' 41st District and the people of Illinois; | 6 | | and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli was a member of the Illinois | 8 | | House of Representatives from 2015 to 2020 and served the body | 9 | | with honor and distinction; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, During his three terms, Representative Wehrli | 11 | | served the people of DuPage and Will Counties with leadership | 12 | | and bipartisanship; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli is a lifelong resident of | 14 | | Naperville, with a rich family history dating back to the | 15 | | 1840s; he attended District 203 Schools; he attended the | 16 | | Florida Institute of Technology and Southern Illinois | 17 | | University at Carbondale, where he studied Aviation Management | 18 | | and Aviation Flight; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Prior to serving in the General Assembly, | 20 | | Representative Wehrli served as a councilman for the City of | 21 | | Naperville from 2005 to 2014; prior to that, he was the |

| 1 | | chairman of the Naperville Planning Commission; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli also previously served on | 3 | | the Naperville Development Partnership, the Naperville | 4 | | Riverwalk Board, the Naper Settlement Museum Board, and the | 5 | | DuPage Mayors and Managers Legislative Committee; he coached | 6 | | Naperville Park District soccer, Little League, YMCA | 7 | | basketball, and St. Raphael youth football; he studied at the | 8 | | National Outdoor Leadership School; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli took his seat in the House | 10 | | of Representatives in January 2015; in recognition of his | 11 | | leadership, he was elevated to the position of Assistant | 12 | | Minority Leader in 2018, where he served as part of the | 13 | | nine-member House Republican Leadership Team; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, During his six years of service, Representative | 15 | | Wehrli served as the ranking Republican on the Labor & Commerce | 16 | | and Cities & Villages Committees; he also served on several | 17 | | influential House committees, including the House Executive | 18 | | Committee; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli always promoted honest | 20 | | dialogue on all points of view on legislative issues and was a | 21 | | fierce advocate of balanced budgets and responsible spending; | 22 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli was a leading voice in the | 2 | | General Assembly for ethics reform, and he sponsored or | 3 | | co-sponsored dozens of bills that would improve behavioral | 4 | | standards for elected officials; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli was a strong voice of | 6 | | support for the State's most vulnerable populations and | 7 | | sponsored several pieces of legislation to improve the quality | 8 | | of life for individuals and families living with developmental | 9 | | disabilities and autism; he also promoted legislation to | 10 | | improve circumstances and wages for the frontline workers who | 11 | | provide care and services to the developmentally disabled and | 12 | | autistic community; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli was the leading Republican | 14 | | voice in Springfield for environmental protection; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli passed several pieces of | 16 | | taxpayer-friendly legislation, including pivotal pension | 17 | | double-dipping bills that prohibited two classifications of | 18 | | state workers from taking advantage of loopholes within the | 19 | | Illinois pension system; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the last six years, Representative Wehrli | 21 | | ushered 102 bills into law as the chief sponsor, passed 66 |

| 1 | | resolutions, and championed dozens of other bills that became | 2 | | laws as a chief co-sponsor or sponsor; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli has been honored with a | 4 | | multitude of awards and recognitions during his time in the | 5 | | General Assembly, including the Guardian of Small Business | 6 | | Award from the Illinois branch of the National Federation of | 7 | | Independent Businesses, the Perfect Scorecard for | 8 | | Environmental Stewardship Award from the Illinois | 9 | | Environmental Council, the Champion of Free Enterprise Award | 10 | | from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, the TMA Perfect Score | 11 | | Award from the Illinois Technology & Manufacturing | 12 | | Association, and the Friend of Manufacturing Award from the | 13 | | Illinois Manufacturers' Association; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Representative Wehrli is the husband of Sharon and | 15 | | father of their sons, Jake and Luke; therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 17 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 18 | | we congratulate State Representative Grant Wehrli on making a | 19 | | positive difference in the lives of the people he represented | 20 | | in the 41st District, in DuPage County and Will County, and | 21 | | across Illinois, and we wish him all the best in his future | 22 | | endeavors; and be it further
