| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Richard K. Hakanson of Silvis, who | 4 | | passed away on April 2, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was born to Elmer and Juanita | 6 | | (Rees) Hakanson in Crawfordsville, Iowa on September 21, 1934; | 7 | | he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1959; he married | 8 | | Phyllis Cox on February 27, 1960, and she preceded him in death | 9 | | in 1997; he later married Barbara (Brand) Bennett in 2000; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was employed at John Deere; he | 11 | | retired in 1994; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was a self-taught, talented | 13 | | woodworker and handyman; he loved American history and hot | 14 | | rods; he adored all animals, and he was known for helping and | 15 | | bringing home stray cats and dogs; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was funny, long-winded, | 17 | | opinionated, stubborn, tough, and sometimes downright | 18 | | cantankerous; he was very proud of and adored Connie | 19 | | (Farrance) Brackney, Louis Andre Delouiser, and Cherie | 20 | | (Peterson) Husain, his "rug rats"; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was preceded in death by his | 2 | | first wife, Phyllis, and his parents; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson is survived by his wife, | 4 | | Barbara; his daughter, Reesa (Kenneth) Douglas; and his | 5 | | brother, E. Rees (Kathy) Hakanson; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Richard K. Hakanson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Richard Hakanson as an expression | 13 | | of our deepest sympathy.
