SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William Eugene "Gus" Hopper of
4Gillespie, who passed away on March 10, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Hopper was born in Henderson to Vernie
6Hopper and Kathleen (McFarlan) Hopper on December 5, 1925; he
7served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he married Ivonia
8(Rademacher) Hopper in Gillespie on January 23, 1946, and she
9preceded him in death on October 12, 2020; and
 
10    WHEREAS, William Hopper was a retired coal miner and
11steelworker; and
 
12    WHEREAS, William Hopper was a member of the United Steel
13Workers Union and the Gillespie Lions Club; he was an avid
14bowler and the secretary of the bowling league; and
 
15    WHEREAS, William Hopper was preceded in death by his
16parents; his spouse; his son, William E. Hopper; his brothers,
17Jim Hopper and Richard Hopper; and his sisters, Lois Keck and
18Dorothy Bone; and
 
19    WHEREAS, William Hopper is survived by his son, Wendell
20Hopper, and his grandchildren, Brennan Hopper and Jessica

1(Tim) Reid; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4William Eugene "Gus" Hopper and extend our sincere condolences
5to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of William Hopper as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
