| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989 | 3 |
| in Wymossing, Pennsylvania; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, At 16 years old, Taylor Swift released her first | 5 |
| album and became one of the youngest and brightest entertainers | 6 |
| in the country-pop industry; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, In the course of her young career, Taylor Swift | 8 |
| has sold over 10 million albums; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Taylor Swift wrote or co-wrote all of the songs | 10 |
| that are on her platinum-selling debut album and is the first | 11 |
| female country artist to have accomplished this; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Taylor Swift, nicknamed "T-Swizzle", has won 62 of | 13 |
| the 94 major awards that she has been nominated for; the list | 14 |
| of awards that Taylor has won include 6 American Music Awards, | 15 |
| 5 CMT Music Awards, 4 Grammy Awards, and 3 MTV Video Music | 16 |
| Awards; and | 17 |
| WHEREAS, Taylor Swift owns the record for the most awarded | 18 |
| album in country history with her album, "Fearless", that was | 19 |
| released in November of 2008; and

| WHEREAS, In 2009, Taylor Swift was named Artist of the Year | 2 |
| by Billboard Magazine; and
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Taylor Swift is recognized as an honest, caring, | 4 |
| and well-mannered role model who loves her fans; therefore, be | 5 |
| it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate May 8, | 8 |
| 2010 as Taylor Swift Day in the State of Illinois; and be it | 9 |
| further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That we urge the people of the State of Illinois | 11 |
| to use Taylor Swift's conduct and accomplishments in the | 12 |
| spotlight as a guide for their personal achievements throughout | 13 |
| their lives; and be it further | 14 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 |
| presented to Taylor Swift as a symbol of our esteem and | 16 |
| respect.
