HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Dr. Vernon O. Crawley for his leadership as President of Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Vernon O. Crawley has provided distinguished leadership as the fourth president of Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills since 1991; he is currently the longest-serving community college president in the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, President Crawley has led the college through remarkable growth in programs, enrollment, and campus expansion, including a new science hall, a business and conference center, a student union, a renovated student center, and education centers in Blue Island and Tinley Park; and

WHEREAS, President Crawley has overseen continued enrollment growth with the spring 2011 enrollment, reaching a record high of 20,100 students; and

WHEREAS, President Crawley has brought prominence to Moraine Valley through his leadership roles on national, State, and local organizations; and

WHEREAS, Under his leadership the college has earned rankings among the top 8 percent in associate's degrees conferred and has awarded 47,000 degrees and certificates since the college's founding in 1967; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize and commend Dr. Crawley for his two decades of leadership excellence in service to Moraine Valley Community College, the 26 communities in the Moraine Valley district, and the Illinois Community College System; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Vernon Crawley as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
