SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eduardo M. "Eddie" Ramos of Silvis, who passed away on July 5, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Eduardo Ramos was born to Benito and Natalia (Terronez) Ramos in Moline on June 9, 1948; he graduated from Alleman High School in 1966; he served as a mechanic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict; he married Rita Gierlus; he later married Charlotte Neal in Rock Island in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Eduardo Ramos had worked at Oscar Mayer in Davenport; he retired as a brick layer/mason working for his best friend, Jim Braet; and

WHEREAS, Eduardo Ramos was a member of the Mexican American Veterans Association (MAVA); and

WHEREAS, Eduardo Ramos enjoyed fishing, shooting toothpicks, watching Westerns, and playing pool; he also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his brother, Nicholas Ramos, and his friend, Jim Braet; and

WHEREAS, Eduardo Ramos was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Raymond Hernandez, Fernando Ramos, David Ramos, and Nicholas Ramos; and

WHEREAS, Eduardo Ramos is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ramos; his children, Kimberly (Manuel) Collyer, Michael (Tafline) Ramos, Dawn Menestrina, Joseph Ramos, and Tony Menestrina; his 17 grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Mary "Goodie" Ramos, Joseph "Ralph" (Dawn) Ramos, Rudolph "Rudy" (Jackie) Ramos, Bernarda "Nini" (Daniel) Lefever, Magdalena "Maggie" (Kelly) Meguffy, and Eva Ramos; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eduardo M. "Eddie" Ramos and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eduardo Ramos as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
