HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jacob Renz for achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Renz lives in Spring Grove and is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 340 and the most recent member of Troop 340 to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Renz lead a team of 22 people over the course of 2 days to install a decorative stone wall and landscape around 2 entrance signs to Grace Lutheran Church in Richmond; he chose this project to improve the landscape around the church and to attract new members from the community to the church; he spent over 4 months in preparation and raised $1,200 and donated 144 hours to this service project; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Renz has participated in many other service projects including: the Adopt a Highway Program, the Spring Grove Food Pantry, conservation projects in his community, and wrapping gifts for the less fortunate at Christmas time; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Renz has excelled academically since middle school and is currently placed in advanced algebra, advanced language arts, and advanced science; he participates in many extracurricular activities such as drama club, choir, jazz band, and concert band; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Renz will begin high school in the fall and will continue his academic studies by taking honors english, honors biology, and honors geometry; he would like to attend college and major in law and minor in political science in order to someday become a lawyer and run for the Illinois House of Representatives or the Illinois State Senate; and

WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout will be bestowed upon Jacob Renz by the Boy Scouts of America at a Court of Honor ceremony on March 9, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Richmond; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Renz reflects the Boy Scouts of America's best traditions of leadership, service to others, responsibility, and dedication to his community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jacob Renz on obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued achievement in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jacob Renz as a symbol of our respect and admiration.
