HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Dr. Foley Beach has served as the Rector and Pastor of Holy Cross Anglican Church in Loganville, Georgia since 2004; he was consecrated as the first Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the South in 2010, and has served as the second Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America since 2014; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has shared his extensive ministry experience, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through his weekly broadcast, "A Word from the Lord", and in numerous news articles, podcasts, and publications; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach, as the highest ecclesial authority of the Anglican Church in North America, has traveled widely to forge and deepen partnerships with Christian denominations that proclaim the Gospel and care lovingly for the people of God; and

WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Archbishop Beach, the Anglican Church in North America was declared a Partner Province of the Global South in 2015, further strengthening its bonds with Anglicans around the world; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has taught that Christians are to be relentlessly compassionate and has worked to build and support parish ministries that feed the poor, serve the homeless, care for orphans, and help people of all ages who are at risk; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has spent his time as Archbishop encouraging and building the Anglican Church in North America to where it now numbers almost a thousand churches, with 1,700 clergy members, and over 350 missionaries serving abroad through the Global Anglican Mission Partners; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has provided guidance and assistance to the 30 dioceses of the Anglican Church of North America, including the Diocese of Quincy and the City of Peoria which it serves; and

WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach visits on the occasion of the 139th Synod of the Diocese of Quincy on October 20-22, 2016; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we welcome the Most Reverend Dr. Foley Beach to Central Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Archbishop Beach as an expression of our esteem and respect.
