HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Recent multiple news articles have reported on the harvesting and sale of body parts from aborted babies by Planned Parenthood; and

WHEREAS, Trafficking in human body parts is a federal crime; and

WHEREAS, Trafficking in human body parts is a form of human trafficking; and

WHEREAS, Illinois has provided State taxpayer dollars and has acted as a conduit for federal taxpayer dollars for Planned Parenthood agencies in Illinois for many years, including most recently $2.54 million in Fiscal Year 2013, $2.28 million in Fiscal Year 2014, and $2.28 million in Fiscal Year 2015; and

WHEREAS, Illinois taxpayers, through their State government, are indirectly involved and are cooperating with Planned Parenthood in these particular immoral and potentially criminal acts; and

WHEREAS, State tax dollars enable Planned Parenthood to divert an equal amount of financial resources from other sources to fund their operations; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge Governor Bruce Rauner and the members of this body to end any and all State funding of Planned Parenthood immediately; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we urge the proper State agencies, including, but not limited to the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Police, to conduct a thorough investigation to determine if any Illinois taxpayer dollars are directly involved in the harvesting and selling of baby body parts by Planned Parenthood and associated agencies in Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the Governor, the Directors of the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Police, and the members of the Illinois congressional delegation.
