HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, On May 25, 2018, Indiana middle school teacher
3Jason Seaman risked his life to protect the lives of his
4students by subduing a student who came into his classroom and
5began opening fire with two handguns; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jason Seaman and 13-year old student, Ella
7Whistler, were wounded by gunfire in the shooting; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jason Seaman was released from the hospital
9Saturday, May 26, 2018; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jason Seaman was a three-sport athlete when he
11attended high school in Mahomet, Illinois; and
 
12    WHEREAS, From 2007 until 2010, Jason Seaman played football
13for Southern Illinois University, where he was a defensive end,
14tallied 88 tackles and eight sacks with two forced fumbles in
1547 games for the Salukis; and
 
16    WHEREAS, We salute Jason Seaman for his bravery and heroism
17and acknowledge that his actions saved many lives; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jason Seaman is the embodiment of what it means to
19be a true American, and as a grateful neighboring state and as

1fellow Americans, we offer our full thoughts and prayers for a
2speedy and full recovery; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5congratulate, commend, and applaud Jason Seaman for his heroic
6actions that saved the lives of his students, and we wish him
7and Ella Whistler a speedy recovery; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
9presented to Jason Seaman and to the Principal of Noblesville
10Middle School West.
