HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Section 14.1 of the Toll Highway Act provides that
3prior to the issuance of bonds for or the commencement of
4construction of any new toll highway, that particular toll
5highway shall be authorized by joint resolution of the General
6Assembly; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Additional highway capacity along Interstate 55
8and Interstate 80 in DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties, including
9tolls on the additional capacity, would improve public safety,
10decrease congestion, provide another transportation option,
11and promote greater economic development; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The project is contingent on compliance with
13applicable environmental regulations and the Federal Highway
14Administration requirements; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
17SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Illinois State Toll Highway
18Authority be authorized to commence a procurement process for
19projects to provide additional highway capacity along
20Interstate 55 between Interstate 355 and Interstate
2190/Interstate 94 in DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties and toll
22the additional capacity; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority be
2authorized to commence a procurement process for projects to
3provide additional capacity along Interstate 80 between
4Interstate 55 and the Illinois-Indiana border in Cook and Will
5Counties and toll the additional capacity; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority
7shall complete the additional capacity projects along
8Interstate 55 and Interstate 80 in a manner that supports
9diversity involvement in the project work and economic
10development in the region; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to
12each of the Directors of the Illinois State Toll Highway
13Authority and to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
14Transportation.
