SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

215 ILCS 5/155.47 new

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code to provide that a first-party claimant who has had a property and casualty claim denied in whole or in part and has obtained a payment in excess of the initial offer of the insurer shall be entitled to reimbursement of their reasonable costs incurred to substantiate the claim.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding Section 155.47 as follows:

Sec. 155.47. First-party claimant reimbursement. A first-party claimant who has had a property and casualty claim denied in whole or in part and has obtained a payment in excess of the initial offer of the insurer shall be entitled to reimbursement of their reasonable costs incurred to substantiate the claim.
