HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Debra "Debbie" Verschelde
4on the occasion of her retirement as the executive director of
5Aging Care Connections; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Debbie Verschelde received her Bachelor of
7Science in Family Relations from Northern Illinois University;
8she earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from
9Governor's State University and successfully completed the
10additional work to become a licensed social worker; she
11obtained her Certificate in Nonprofit Management from North
12Park University; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Debbie Verschelde has worked with older adults
14and their families her entire career, and she has worked with
15Aging Care Connections for 44 years; she began her career as
16the volunteer coordinator before moving into the agency's
17Social Service Department, where she worked in the community
18with older adults in their homes; she then served as the
19director of the Social Service Department for 14 years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Debbie Verschelde was appointed the executive
21director of Aging Care Connections in April 1999; during her
22tenure, the agency has more than tripled its organizational

1budget and expanded its geographic reach and program
2offerings; she has also been involved in several strategic
3initiatives in order to advance the mission of the
4organization; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Debbie Verschelde has additionally served as an
6ambassador with the United Way for over 20 years; she was the
7co-chair for the United Way Affiliate Agency Campaign on
8behalf of the United Way of Suburban Chicago for two years;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Debra "Debbie" Verschelde on her retirement
13and wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Debbie Verschelde as an expression of our esteem
17and respect.
