HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Eleanor E. Gorski on the occasion of her appointment as executive director of the Cook County Land Bank Authority; and

WHEREAS, Eleanor Gorski received her bachelor's degree from Penn State University; she earned her master's degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois; she is a fellow of the American Academy in Rome and the University of Chicago Civic Leadership Academy; she is also a licensed architect; and

WHEREAS, Eleanor Gorski is a city planning expert who began her extensive career with the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) in 1996; she has served DPD in multiple roles, including director of Historic Preservation and bureau chief of Planning, Historic Preservation and Sustainability; she was appointed acting commissioner of the DPD by Mayor Lori Lightfoot in May 2019, where she led the department's economic development, zoning, and planning bureaus while fostering community-improvement projects and initiatives throughout the city; and

WHEREAS, Eleanor Gorski has led dozens of departmental projects and initiatives, including the Neighborhood Opportunity Bonus, the five-year rehabilitation plan for Wrigley Field, the Fulton Market Innovation District Plan, the North Branch Framework Plan, and the Chicago River Design Guidelines; she also played a crucial role in connecting city hall and local developers for important projects; and

WHEREAS, Eleanor Gorski began serving as executive director of the Cook County Land Bank Authority on August 1, 2021; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Eleanor E. Gorski on her appointment as executive director of the Cook County Land Bank Authority and wish her all the best in her new position; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eleanor Gorski as an expression of our esteem and respect.
