HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Taylorville Junior
4High School 7th Grade girls basketball team, the Tornadoes, on
5winning the Illinois Elementary School Association Class 4A
6State Championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Before advancing to the championship game of the
8state tournament, the Tornadoes defeated Barrington Station
9Middle School by a score of 33-22 in the first round and
10Lockport Oak Prairie by a score of 28-25 in the semifinals; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Tornadoes defeated the Morton Junior High
12School Potters by a score of 18-16 at Bolingbrook Brooks
13Middle School to earn the team's first state title in school
14history; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Tornado Grace Rogers hit the winning shot with
16four seconds left in the thrilling game; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Nora Thomas led the Tornadoes in scoring with
18eight points, while Grace Rogers scored four and McKynlee
19Siempelkamp and Hope Kietzman each scored three points; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The championship win ended the Tornadoes'

1excellent season with a final record of 26-2; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Tornadoes were led by Head Coach Doug Bowsher
3and Assistant Coach Darren Breeden; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The team included Josephine Durbin, McKynlee
5Siempelkamp, Hope Kietzman, Grace Rogers, Camille Heberling,
6Kaylee Campbell, Leah Lovekamp, Nora Thomas, Skylar Stockton,
7and Gianna Tarr; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate the Taylorville Junior High School 7th Grade
11girls basketball team on winning the Class 4A State
12Championship; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
14presented to the Tornado players and coaches as a symbol of our
15respect and esteem.
