SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Stanley E. Weinstein of Rock Island,
4who passed away on December 22, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stanley Weinstein was born to Joseph and Dora
6Mandelbaum Weinstein in Rock Island on July 18, 1931; he
7graduated from Rock Island High School in 1949; he earned his
8Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois in 1953,
9where he was a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity; he served in
10the U.S. Army; he married Beatrice "Bebe" Gamburg in
11Davenport, Iowa on June 10, 1956, and she preceded him in death
12in 2014; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Stanley Weinstein was the CEO of Stanley Foods
14Corporation, which was founded by his father and based in
15Milan, for over 25 years; he grew the company into one of the
16largest wholesale distributors of produce and frozen foods in
17the Midwest; he also created such iconic brands such as Little
18Ellie Potatoes, a small russet named for his eldest daughter,
19Ellie; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Stanley Weinstein left the food business in his
21early fifties, embarking on a new career as a management
22consultant and executive recruiter through the creation of the

1S.E. Weinstein Company; within a few short years, he was hired
2by clients from several Fortune 500 companies in multiple
3countries throughout the world; his company was likely one of
4the most successful solo-operated recruiting firms in the
5world; his company also spawned a successful outplacement
6consulting firm, The Beatrice Weinstein Group, which was
7operated by his wife; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Stanley Weinstein was a lifelong member of
9Congregation Beth Israel and the Jewish Federation of the Quad
10Cities; he was a music lover, fancied himself a crooner, and
11played professional saxophone in his younger years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Stanley Weinstein was preceded in death by his
13wife; his parents; and his sisters, Dena Linado, Bebbe Mandel,
14Bernice Arkis, and Frances Weinstein; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Stanley Weinstein is survived by his children,
16Ellie Maule (Kevin), Dr. Leo Weinstein (Kyle), and Dr. Karen
17Weinstein (Laurent Ohayon); his grandchildren, Steven Maule,
18Asher Weinstein, Aaron Weinstein, and Astrid Weinstein; and
19his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Stanley E. Weinstein and extend our sincere condolences to his

1family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
2further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Stanley Weinstein as an expression
5of our deepest sympathy.
