SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
720 ILCS 5/24-1.3 new

    Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Provides that it is unlawful for any person to possess a suppressor for any firearm that has had its serial number removed or altered. Provides that a violation is a Class 3 felony. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning criminal law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by adding
5Section 24-1.3 as follows:
 
6    (720 ILCS 5/24-1.3 new)
7    Sec. 24-1.3. Possession of a suppressor without a serial
8number or with an altered serial number.
9    (a) It is unlawful for any person to possess a suppressor
10for any firearm that has had its serial number removed or
11altered.
12    (b) Sentence. A violation of this Section is a Class 3
13felony.
 
14    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15becoming law.
