| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert J. Amidon, Ph.D., of Milan, who | 4 | | passed away on October 27, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Amidon was born to Herbert Willis and | 6 | | Isabella Wilhelmina Cullison Amidon in Rock Island on November | 7 | | 24, 1929; he earned his undergraduate degree from the | 8 | | University of Illinois and his Ph.D. from the University of | 9 | | Iowa; he married Gertrude Petty at Taylor Ridge United | 10 | | Methodist Church on June 7, 1953; he served in the U.S. Navy, | 11 | | and he received the National Defense Medal and the Navy | 12 | | Occupational Medal; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Robert Amidon worked as a systems analyst for the | 14 | | Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1985; following retirement, | 15 | | he taught at St. Ambrose University; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Robert Amidon enjoyed woodworking and tinkering | 17 | | with many things, and he made birdhouses and several other | 18 | | items from wood to give to his family; he also enjoyed | 19 | | gardening and having a cigar while mowing; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert Amidon was preceded in death by his | 21 | | parents and his sister, Marion Hoffiditz; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Robert Amidon is survived by his wife, Gertrude | 2 | | Amidon; his sons, Jeff (Elaine) Amidon and Bruce Amidon; his | 3 | | granddaughters, Christina (Jerry) Cunningham and Alayna Rae | 4 | | Amidon; his great-grandchildren, Liam and Marek Cunningham; | 5 | | his sister, Harriette Westbrook; and his brother, Richard | 6 | | Amidon; therefore, be it | 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Robert J. Amidon, Ph.D. and extend our sincere condolences to | 10 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further | 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Robert Amidon as an expression of | 14 | | our deepest sympathy. |
