 1        AN ACT in relation to elected office.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section
 5    1-8 as follows:

 6    (10 ILCS 5/1-8 new)
 7    Qualifications  for  elected  office.  No  person  shall   be
 8    eligible  to  be  a candidate for elected local government or
 9    school district office if he or she has been convicted in any
10    court located in the United States  of  any  infamous  crime,
11    bribery, perjury, or other felony.

12        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
13    becoming law.
