 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  learned  with  regret  of  the  death of Ruthie Mae
 4    Clark-DeShong of Champaign on Monday, November 10, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Ruthie Mae Clark was born on April 26,  1920  in
 6    Atwood,  Tennessee,  to  Reverend Jessie D. and Erma D. Luter
 7    Clark Sr.; she married Manley DeShong on September  6,  1944;
 8    he preceded her in death; and

 9        WHEREAS,  She  enjoyed  spending  time  with  family  and
10    friends;  she  was  an  active  member  of  Mt. Olive Baptist
11    Church, where she enjoyed serving on the culinary  committee;
12    and

13        WHEREAS, The passing of Ruthie Mae Clark-DeShong has been
14    deeply  felt  by  many,  especially  her  daughters,  Lillian
15    (Susie)  Taylor  and Willie (Bonnie) DeShong; her son, Robert
16    (Bobby)    DeShong;    her    5    grandchildren;    her    4
17    great-grandchildren;  her  brothers,  Jessie  Clark,   Lonnie
18    Clark,  and  Clyde  Clark;  and  her sister, Lucille Roberts;
19    therefore, be it

20        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL
21    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
22    of Ruthie  Mae  Clark-DeShong,  and  we  extend  our  deepest
23    sympathy  to  her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
24    her; and be it further

25        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
26    presented  to  the  family  of Ruthie Mae Clark-DeShong as an
27    expression of our sincere condolences during  their  time  of
28    bereavement.
