HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Meals on Wheels Association of America created the March for Meals Campaign in 2002 to call attention to the problem of senior hunger in America; and

WHEREAS, In March of 1972, the law was enacted to include senior meal programs in the Older Americans Act; and

WHEREAS, The slogan "So No Senior Goes Hungry" is the rallying cry of the campaign and the Association; and

WHEREAS, The three goals of the March for Meals Campaign are to raise awareness about senior hunger, recruit new volunteers to join in the fight against senior hunger, and to raise money on the local level; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the month of March shall be known as March for Meals in honor of the citizens of the State of Illinois.
