1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate MainStreet Libertyville
4 for its 35 years of service and thank them for their hard work
5 on behalf of downtown Libertyville; and

6     WHEREAS, On April 25, 1989, MainStreet Libertyville was
7 founded as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to
8 enhancing community identity and heritage, fostering a center
9 of activity, and ensuring economic stability in the heart of
10 Libertyville through concentrated efforts of education,
11 design, promotion, organization, and economic revitalization;
12 and

13     WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville has demonstrated
14 excellence in community revitalization efforts and received
15 the Great American Main Street Award in 1997 from Main Street
16 America; and

17     WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville has advocated for small
18 business owners and economic vitality in downtown Libertyville
19 and partnered with local stakeholders, community leaders, and
20 volunteers to help create and maintain a unique and vibrant
21 shopping, dining, and entertainment district in downtown
22 Libertyville; and

1     WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville holds more than 55 days
2 of community and retail events that bring thousands of people
3 to the heart of downtown Libertyville, including Let's Wine
4 About Winter, First Fridays, Girls' Nights Out, Car Fun on 21,
5 the Farmers Market, Lunch in the Park, Sidewalk Sales,
6 MainSweet Dessert Walk, Oktoberfest in Libertyville, Trick or
7 Treat on MainStreet, Small Business Saturday, and Dickens of a
8 Holiday; and

9     WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville brings thousands of
10 people from the community and tourists to enjoy the historic
11 charm and independent retailers, restaurants, and service
12 providers in downtown Libertyville; and

13     WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville is also a part of
14 Illinois Main Street and a national network of more than 1,200
15 Main Street Communities accredited and affiliated with Main
16 Street America, a subsidiary of the National Trust for
17 Historic Preservation; therefore, be it

18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19 HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20 we congratulate MainStreet Libertyville for its 35 years of
21 service and thank them for their hard work on behalf of
22 downtown Libertyville; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to MainStreet Libertyville as an expression of our
3 esteem and respect.
