SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

55 ILCS 5/5-14006.5 new

Amends the Counties Code. Requires regional planning commissions in Kane and Kendall Counties to take into consideration the anticipated population growth of the county and the development potential of areas within the county in meeting future housing needs. Requires the commissions to hold a public hearing on these issues within 6 months after the effective date of this amendatory Act and, if appropriate, to recommend amendments to the plan.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section 5-14006.5 as follows:

(55 ILCS 5/5-14006.5 new)

Sec. 5-14006.5. Kane County and Kendall County plans. In addition to any other requirements, the regional planning commission in Kane County and in Kendall County must take into consideration the anticipated population growth of the county and the development potential of areas within the county in meeting future housing needs. Within 6 months after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly, each of those commissions must hold a public hearing regarding these issues after providing adequate notice of the hearing to the residents affected by the commission. After holding the public hearing and if appropriate, the planning commission shall make a recommendation to the county board for amending the plan.
