| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate John Schaive on his | | 4 |
| retirement from the Office of the Secretary of State after 31 | | 5 |
| years of service; and
| | 6 |
| WHEREAS, John Schaive was born and raised in Springfield; | | 7 |
| he is a graduate of Lanphier High School; in 1951 he signed a | | 8 |
| minor league contract with the St. Louis Browns baseball | | 9 |
| organization; he went on to play with the minor league teams of | | 10 |
| Thomasville, Georgia, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Decatur, | | 11 |
| Illinois, Erie, Pennsylvania, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and | | 12 |
| Denver, Colorado; and
| | 13 |
| WHEREAS, In 1963 he joined the major leagues and played | | 14 |
| with the Washington Senators; during this time he saw action | | 15 |
| against Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Ted Williams, Jimmy | | 16 |
| Piersall, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Brooks Robinson, and others; | | 17 |
| and
| | 18 |
| WHEREAS, John and his wife, Lesa, have been married for | | 19 |
| thirty years; and
| | 20 |
| WHEREAS, They are the proud parents of John, Kim, Brad, | | 21 |
| Jennifer, and Chad; they are the loving grandparents of nine |

| grandchildren; and

| WHEREAS, With all the spare time John will have he can | | 3 |
| enjoy sports, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his | | 4 |
| family; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | | 6 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | | 7 |
| congratulate John Schaive on his retirement and wish him all | | 8 |
| the best for the future; and be it further
| | 9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 10 |
| presented to John Schaive as a symbol of our respect.
