HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has served as an educator for Community Consolidated School District 59, where she taught for many years; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has always demonstrated the highest degree of creativity, care, good judgment, and enthusiasm during her tenure as an educator, thereby providing commitment and direction to her students and colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has taught first grade and has served as a reading resource and gifted education teacher at Rupley School; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie taught math and literature and composition at Friendship Junior High School; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has been vital to the quality of excellence provided by School District 59 and Elk Grove Village; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie was the first teacher in District 59 to earn National Board Certification, the highest honor in the teaching profession; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has been involved in the development of The Character Counts program for the district's schools; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie served for two years in the Instruction Department as Teacher Leader for Staff Development and as coordinator of the Character Counts! Initiative; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie expanded the outreach of the Character program by being instrumental in the formation of the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove, which includes local businesses as well as government and community organizations; and

WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has been a devoted teacher since she earned her bachelor's degree in education from Northern Illinois University in 1970 and her master's in special education from Northeastern Illinois University in 1974; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Community Consolidated School District 59 educator Birdie Bisceglie on the occasion of her retirement and thank her for her dedication to the students, parents, and staff of School District 59; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Birdie Bisceglie as a token of our respect and esteem, with our best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.
