(70 ILCS 705/10d) Sec. 10d. Purchase of tires under joint purchasing authority. (a) As used in this Section: "Vehicle" has the meaning provided in Section 1-146 of the Illinois Vehicle Code. "Volunteer firefighter" means a firefighter who does not receive monetary compensation for his or her services to a fire protection district. (b) If authorized by the fire chief of the fire protection district, any regularly enrolled volunteer firefighter may purchase 4 vehicle tires every 3 years through his or her fire protection district's contract to purchase vehicle tires under Section 2 of the Governmental Joint Purchasing Act. The authorization must be in writing and on the fire protection district's letterhead, and must include the volunteer firefighter's name, the license plate number of the vehicle for the authorized purchase, and must reference the fire protection district's joint purchasing agreement. (c) The fire protection district shall alone be responsible for documenting how many tires each volunteer firefighter purchases during the specified period under this Section. (d) The firefighter shall pay for any tires, and any related taxes, purchased under this Section. (e) Purchase of tires under this Section are not considered tax exempt. (f) This Section applies to contracts first solicited under Section 4 of the Governmental Joint Purchasing Act on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly.
