Sec. 2.
The Institution for Tuberculosis Research is established for
the production, distribution and application of the bacillus
Calmette-Guerin, (BCG) and other methods and materials for the
prevention of Tuberculosis and for conducting research in tuberculosis.
The professional operation and all other management and control of the
Institution is vested in the University. There shall be an advisory
board for the Institution which shall consist of five medical directors
two of whom shall be doctors appointed by the Sanitarium and when
possible be selected from the directors of the Sanitarium, two appointed
by the University and one elected by the medical directors representing
the Sanitarium and the University. The elected member shall serve for
five years, the tenure of the University members shall be designated by
the Board of Trustees of the University, the members selected by the
Sanitarium shall serve for a term of five years or if they are directors
of the Sanitarium during their tenure as directors on the Board of
Directors of the Sanitarium. The terms of the University members and the
elected member shall commence July 1 of the year of appointment.
Vacancies of University members and elected member shall be filled for
the balance of the unexpired term. All members shall serve until their
successors are appointed. Members shall serve without compensation but
shall be reimbursed for expenses necessarily incurred in the performance
of their duties.
