Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.

Sec. 7.01.
The Council shall consist of 31 voting members, including: two Senators
appointed by the President of the Senate; two Senators appointed by the
Senate Minority Leader; two Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the
House of Representatives; two Representatives appointed by the House
Minority Leader; and twenty three citizen members, at least sixteen of whom
shall be senior citizens or have actual experience in providing services to senior citizens. Of the citizen members, at least 7 shall represent underrepresented communities as follows:
(1) one member who is a lesbian, gay, bisexual, or |

(2) one member who is a transgender or
|
| gender-expansive individual;
|
|
(3) one member who is a person living with HIV;
(4) one member who is an African-American or Black
|
|
(5) one member who is a Hispanic or Latino
|
|
(6) one member who is an Asian-American or Pacific
|
|
(7) one member who is an ethnically diverse
