Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.

Sec. 1-2.
(1) The General Assembly finds:
(a) that the predominant part of the State's |
| population is located in its rapidly expanding metropolitan and urban areas;
|
|
(b) that the welfare and vitality of urban areas and
|
| the satisfactory movement of people and goods within such areas are being jeopardized by the deterioration or inadequate provision of urban transportation facilities and services and the intensification of traffic congestion; and
|
|
(c) that State financial assistance for the
|
| development of efficient and coordinated mass transportation systems is essential to the solution of these urban problems.
|
|
(2) The purposes of this Act are:
(a) to assist in the development of improved mass
|
| transportation systems; and
|
|
(b) to provide assistance to participants in
|
| financing such systems as provided in Section 7 of Article XIII of the Constitution.
