Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.

Sec. 1.
(a) In all colleges, universities and other
institutions of learning in the State of Illinois, not placed under the
control of the officers of this State, whether organized under any general
or special law, non-residents of this State shall be eligible to the office
of trustee; provided, that at least 3 members of the board of
trustees
of any such institution of learning shall be residents of this State. This
subsection (a) does not apply to the Board of Trustees of the
University of Illinois,
Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois
University,
Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois
University,
Northern Illinois University, or Western Illinois University.
(b) No institution of learning in this State
shall be
removed from this State unless by a unanimous vote of the board of trustees.
