Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

Sec. 17. Educational and professional qualifications for licensure.

A person may be qualified to receive a license as a naprapath if he
or she:

(1) is at least 21 years of age and of good moral

character;

(2) for licenses granted on or before December 31,

2027, has graduated from a 2-year college level program or its equivalent approved by the Department;

(2.5) for licenses granted on or after January 1,

2028, has graduated from a 4-year college level program or its equivalent approved by the Department;

(3) has graduated from a curriculum in naprapathy

approved by the Department.  In approving a curriculum in naprapathy, the Department shall consider, but not be bound by, a curriculum approved by the American Naprapathic Association, the Illinois Naprapathic Association, or a national or regional accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education;

(4) has passed an examination approved by the

Department to determine a person's fitness to practice as a naprapath; and

(5) has met all other requirements of the Act.

The Department has the right and may request a personal interview with an
applicant to further evaluate a person's qualifications
for a license.
