Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

    Sec. 180. Destruction of medical cannabis.
    (a) All cannabis byproduct, scrap, and harvested cannabis not intended for distribution to a medical cannabis organization must be destroyed and disposed of pursuant to State law. Documentation of destruction and disposal shall be retained at the cultivation center for a period of not less than 5 years.
    (b) A cultivation center shall prior to the destruction, notify the Department of Agriculture and the Illinois State Police.
    (c) The cultivation center shall keep record of the date of destruction and how much was destroyed.
    (d) A dispensary organization shall destroy all cannabis, including cannabis-infused products, that are not sold to registered qualifying patients. Documentation of destruction and disposal shall be retained at the dispensary organization for a period of not less than 5 years.
    (e) A dispensary organization shall prior to the destruction, notify the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Illinois State Police.
